I am a jelly donut (or a hamburger)

We got up at an ungodly hour to catch the metro to the RER to the bus to the airport. At the airport I got slightly worried by the fairly lax security followed by what sounded like the “call to prayer” ringtone of the guy behind us in line. We finally arrived in Hamburg after a very bumpy flight, where we were picked up by Olaf’s housemate Michael. Their place is absolutely beautiful, with a view over the lake to die for. No wonder they love it here. Olaf and I took a brief bike ride to the Market and bought lots of familiar-looking things with unfamiliar names (as well as unfamiliar-looking things with still unfamiliar names). I am also determined to learn a little German while I am here. Stay tuned. Pics to follow. auf wiedersehen.

  1. Who is “we”? i.e., who went with you to Hamburg? (You just put that “call to prayer ringtone” in to worry me, didn’t you?

Sounds like everything is going well…how long will you be in Hamburg, and is your telephone number the same throughout Europe?
